Chapter 676: Reaching The Limit.
Chapter 676: Reaching The Limit.
Ideally, the swordsman should be slowly wearing the enemy down, but he was rushing the attacks in order to speed up the demise of the old man. It seemed that even though he didn’t retreat, he was still wary of the reinforcement and wanted to finish the enemy off before the reinforcement arrived.
As he swung his sword, he said to the old man, "Just surrender and let me catch you. If you let me catch you, I will make things easier for you when I sell you and your Cave Heaven to another forger."
The old man shouted back, "In your dreams. If you are going to get me, you will have to kill me."
He was displeased to hear this, so he scoffed and said, "Suit yourself. It will be more difficult, but your death can be arranged."
Meanwhile, he thought to himself, "As long as I take note of where they die, I can bring a seer to come and help me find their Cave Heaven. The seer will take their portion, but the rest should be enough to make up for my loss this time around."
He didn’t want to give up because the enemy was weak and he already had them cornered. When he thought of the benefits he could gain by auctioning off the Cave Heaven of a cultivator who has probably reached the limit of rank 6, which is 100 million square kilometers, he became excited.
However, there was a faint worry at the back of his mind that the reinforcement was real. This gave him a sense of urgency that made him swing his sword faster and faster.
The old man threatened him again, saying, "Just you wait for my reinforcement to arrive."
As the old man said this, their body collapsed, leaving behind their holy flame and a channel to their Cave Heaven.
When the swordsman saw this, he immediately laughed. He seem to have realized why the old man was warning him earlier, so he grinned and said with disdain, "Let me guess, you think I will be too scared to call your bluff when I know that a reinforcement is coming."
As he spoke, he approached the golden flame. When he reached it, he looked through it.
What he saw was a vague image of a Cave Heaven. Everything he saw was tiny and tinted by the golden color of the flame. So the things he thought were spirit animals were real animals.
If the enemy had two Divine Metacs as he did or even three Divine Metacs, he would certainly be wary of entering their Cave Heaven. But he has already seen that the enemy has one Divine Metac, so the size of their Cave Heaven can’t be bigger than 100 million square kilometers.
He can see that there is only one star in the Life Flame, so he was certain that this swordsman wouldn’t be able to match him in terms of Divine Metacs and the size of the Cave Heaven. So, with this confidence bolstering his actions, he jumped into the golden flame.
His figure moved through space until he stopped within the Cave Heaven. Then he looked around with a smile on his face.
However, the smile on his face faltered when he caught sight of what he was seeing.
He saw green trees, normal flying birds, and normal crawling creatures like the ones the main world has. This was wrong in various ways, so he became confused.
In his confusion, he sought answers, so he said to the world, "What is going on here? Are these real living creatures?"
Then he continued to smile as he said, "You’d better tell me now before I use force on you. You can do this the easy way or the hard way. To be honest, I like the hard way myself."
He didn’t speak to anyone in particular because he knew that he didn’t need to. He was sure that the owner of the Cave Heaven would hear everything he said, so he didn’t bother to look for someone to direct his question to.
Just as he expected, the owner of the Cave Heaven heard his question. The owner of the Cave Heaven also replied, saying, "What a coincidence? I like doing things the hard way, too. It seems we have more in common than it appears on the surface."
The swordsman saw this as a challenge, so he sneered and said, "It seems you won’t admit defeat until you face certain death. In that case, I am willing to oblige and bring you the certain death that you need to..."
As he was speaking, a laser attacked him from behind. Unfortunately, he was alert despite looking carefree. So as soon as the laser entered his range of perception, he discovered it and swivelled to address it.
He swung his sword at the laser to deflect it. It is what he has always done, and it has always worked.
He wasn’t even using a Divine Metac to deflect the laser. It showed just how weak the laser was for him to be able to use his heavy Sword Mountain Metac to deflect it.
However, this time, things went differently. The laser cracked his sword and bore a hole through his chest.
The turn of events made him widen his eyes in fright. He would have been stunned into a stupor if not for the pain. The pain of a large hole where his chest should be sobered him up and made him realize that something was wrong.
But before he could understand what was wrong, more long-barreled guns appeared in the sky above him. They formed a circle around him so that they could attack him from every angle. Then they discharged their payload one by one.
It was at this moment that he realized that the lasers didn’t look the same as the ones he was dealing with outside of the Cave Heaven earlier. These ones were a deeper shade of red than the ones he was able to deflect easily.
