Chapter 347: Her Longing
Chapter 347: Her Longing
"I don’t care who’s backing them up. We’re taking down their entire nest this time!" Shannon Quinn said coldly.
Scott Sullivan said with a smile, "Of course we’re taking them all out. Otherwise, why would they need us?"
For years, they had only taken on missions of the highest difficulty.
’Normally, with Nathaniel Nathan’s level of skill, there’s no way he would have let these scumbags escape this far. He could already tell that Nathaniel’s plan was to take down the entire drug cartel at once.’
’Every move the drug lords made was likely well within Nathaniel Nathan’s control.’
Nathaniel Nathan took a pen, circled Trellis’s position on the map, and said, "Close the net."
"Sir!" his teammates responded in unison.
They had been itching to close the net for a while, and hearing Nathaniel Nathan’s words, they all breathed a collective sigh of relief.
They knew Nathaniel Nathan’s strategy was the right one, but playing hide-and-seek with the drug traffickers for days had been exhausting. On top of that, their hands were itching for action, yet they had to keep leaving an escape route for those scumbags. The feeling was incredibly frustrating.
Vera Xavier had no idea that Nathaniel Nathan was so close by. At that moment, she was lost in thought, gazing at his photograph.
’Maybe it’s because I just saw Susan Caldwell,’ she thought. She found herself missing Nathaniel Nathan more than ever. In her past life, she hadn’t known when Susan first met Nathaniel. But from the moment they met, Susan had been chasing him relentlessly.
’In her past life, she had been scared to death of Nathaniel Nathan, trying everything she could to avoid him. Back then, when Susan Caldwell was chasing Nathaniel, she had even hoped Susan would succeed. Thinking about it now, her past self had been unbelievably foolish!’
’But in this life, she would never let Susan Caldwell get near Nathaniel Nathan!’
’Nathaniel Nathan could only belong to her!’
Vera Xavier pressed her lips together, then lowered her head and planted a kiss on Nathaniel Nathan’s photograph, a small smile playing on her lips.
Aaron Cheney and Jack Judd walked in just in time to witness the scene. Aaron quickly covered his eyes. "Sister-in-law, I know the boss isn’t here and you miss him, but show some restraint! This level of PDA is just cruel!"
Jack Judd, on the other hand, clutched his hands to his heart. "SOB... This is so romantic! It makes me want to start dating too!"
Vera Xavier couldn’t be bothered with them. She put Nathaniel Nathan’s photo back in her wallet. "From now on, remember to knock before you come into my room."
Aaron Cheney said scornfully, "We did knock when we came in. You were just too lost in your thoughts about the boss to hear it!"
Jack Judd raised his hand. "I can testify to that!"
Vera Xavier arched an eyebrow, her face flushing slightly. It wasn’t a great feeling to have her longing exposed like this; as far as she was concerned, it was an extremely private matter.
So she said sternly, "If I didn’t hear you, couldn’t you have knocked a few more times? From now on, if I don’t tell you to come in, you’re not allowed in!"
Aaron Cheney and Jack Judd exchanged a glance, then snapped to attention and saluted. "You’re right, Sister-in-law!" they said in unison.
A small smile touched Vera Xavier’s lips. After spending so much time together, Jack Judd had started acting as goofy as Aaron Cheney.
She asked calmly, "Did you two need something from me?"
Aaron Cheney leaned in close. "We came to ask when we’re going to check out The Jade Market."
"First thing tomorrow morning." Vera Xavier took a list from her bag and handed it to them. "First, I need you to go buy everything on this list."
