Chapter 308 - 162: You Little Brat, Don’t Ask About Grown-up Matters
It was a normal day for Jiang Peiyao.
During the day, she took care of her brother at the hospital, took him for a stroll in the hospital’s park, and then brought him back to his room.
Thanks to Xu Yun, her brother had a private VIP room, so the conditions were exceptional.
Jiang Peiyao waited in the room until her brother fell asleep before returning to her rented apartment alone. She made a simple meal of one dish and a soup, planning to just eat something quickly.
Just then, she suddenly got a video call from Xu Yun.
It was a bit of a surprise.
Jiang Peiyao answered. Xu Yun’s face appeared on the screen. It looked like he was outside—there were trees in the background.
From his end, Xu Yun smiled and asked, "What are you up to?"
"I just got back from the hospital. I was about to eat."
"Let me see. What delicious food did you make?"
"Fine, take a look."
Jiang Peiyao switched the camera, pointing it at the single dish and soup on her table. "Just this."
"Are you on a diet?"
Xu Yun said, "That’s too plain."
"It’s fine. It’s just me, so I’m just making do."
Jiang Peiyao asked in return, "Have you eaten?"
"Not yet. I’m starving."
Xu Yun sighed. "I was thinking of coming over and having you treat me to dinner, but that meal of yours isn’t even enough for one person."
"If you came over, I obviously wouldn’t be eating this."
Jiang Peiyao smiled. "But you’re a thousand miles away from me. Even if I wanted to treat you, I couldn’t."
"Who says?"
Knowing she was home, Xu Yun started walking toward the elevator. As he walked, he said, "Just say you really miss me, and love will let me cross time and space to appear before you in an instant."
"I don’t believe you."
"If you don’t believe me, why not give it a try?"
Jiang Peiyao hesitated for a moment before saying, "I miss you."
"Who do you miss? At least use my name."
"Xu Yun, I miss you."
Jiang Peiyao’s face flushed red as she said it. Then she added, "So? How come you haven’t appeared in front of me?"
"Who says I haven’t?"
Xu Yun stepped out of the elevator on the 23rd floor and stood at her door. He said with a smile, "If you don’t believe me, go open the door and see. A miracle is waiting for you."
After saying that, he hung up.
Jiang Peiyao was left utterly confused.
Staring at the abruptly ended call, she had no idea what trick Xu Yun was playing, but she still got up and walked to the door, full of doubt.
Since she lived alone, she was very safety-conscious. She didn’t open the door right away, instead peering through the peephole.
And then she saw him—Xu Yun, the man who was just on her phone screen.
Outside, Xu Yun seemed to know he was being watched. He smiled and tapped the peephole’s glass with his finger. "Stop looking and open the door."
Jiang Peiyao quickly opened the door. Stunned to see Xu Yun suddenly appear at her doorstep, she was at a loss for words.
"See? I told you I wasn’t lying."
Xu Yun smiled. "As long as you say you miss me, I’ll teleport over to see you."
"Thank you!"
It’s true that women like money, but a man who was rich, handsome, kind, and romantic? He was devastatingly lethal.
In that moment, Jiang Peiyao felt a deep, moving sensation in her heart and completely fell for him.
She no longer cared if Xu Yun’s feelings were real or if it was all just an act.
She knew she had fallen in love with this man.
Even if it was all fake, she was willing to live in the lie of such a beautiful bubble.
Jiang Peiyao pulled Xu Yun directly into the apartment, hugged him tightly, and, tilting her head up, began to kiss him.
Fervent and wild.
Faced with Jiang Peiyao’s initiative, Xu Yun certainly wouldn’t refuse; he would only respond with even greater passion.
As for the food on the table, that could wait.
After a deep kiss, Xu Yun carried Jiang Peiyao straight to the bedroom.
Like a parched land meeting sweet rain, the earth was revitalized, and everything burst with life.
The mountain peaks, shaped by the Creator’s hands, grew firm and tall once more. The mountain brook quickened its pace as a spring from deep within welled up, its waters burbling softly.
The sound of birds chirping rose and fell, occasionally punctuated by the low roar of a wild beast.
All of this formed a beautiful, picturesque scene.
Several hours later, the sudden storm subsided, and the entire mountain grew quiet once more.
Xu Yun and Jiang Peiyao emerged from the bedroom after "watching TV," both feeling a bit hungry.
For some reason, however, Jiang Peiyao’s complexion was much rosier, and her skin seemed supple and dewy, a complete change from her previous weary state.
Xu Yun looked at the single dish and soup on the table and said with a smile, "This food is cold now. We can’t eat it. Come on, let’s go out to eat."
"Okay."
Jiang Peiyao nodded. As she walked, she felt a slight pain.
"Are you okay?"
Seeing this, Xu Yun asked with concern, "Should I order takeout instead? We can just eat at home."
"I’m fine."
Jiang Peiyao said shyly, "It’s fine as long as I walk slowly and don’t take big steps."
"I was too rash just now."
"It wasn’t your fault. I was the one who wanted too much."
Jiang Peiyao smiled. "Come on, I’ll show you around Rongcheng properly."
"Let’s skip the tour for now. We’ll eat first, and then we can go to the hospital to see your brother."
Xu Yun added, "Let’s wait until tomorrow. You can show me around properly then."
"Okay."
Xu Yun didn’t have a car here, so they had to take a private car-for-hire to a nearby downtown commercial center. He then randomly found a Western restaurant on his phone called KEZEE Channel.
The overall atmosphere was nice. It had several floors and was designed in an opera house style, with magnificent lighting.
There was also a live music stage. Combined with candlelight, it was a mix of a music venue and a bar. You could eat while listening to the house singer, creating a strong concert-like vibe.
The two of them ordered their food and a bottle of red wine, chatting as they ate.
