Chapter 943 - 273: Ominous Visitor (Part 2)
As someone quite eager to invite Chen Ming to join the Spiritual Ability Research Institute, He Gu naturally wasn’t stingy with his time when Chen Ming wanted to delve deeper into the rules of the Fourteenth Legion’s Psychics.
He continued to explain, "Every organization’s Spiritual Ability Research Institute is an independent department, but it usually receives the most support from the organization, and you should know the reason why."
"Then there are the Contribution Points, which are entirely issued by the Legion. Even our Research Institute can only assist in reporting achievements that earn Contribution Points, like the two projects you worked on before, which we reported for you; the rewards will soon be distributed."
"However, most things that can be exchanged with Contribution Points are materials stored in our Spiritual Ability Research Institute’s warehouse, so they must be exchanged here."
"These items are considered property of the Legion, not just the Research Institute’s, and the Research Institute needs approval to use them; they can’t be taken freely."
Chen Ming roughly understood the operating principle of the Psychic’s Contribution Point mechanism, which was essentially a method employed by the Legion to control its subordinate Psychics, provided there was no trade.
Now, with Contribution Points being tradable, it created a win-win situation that both the Psychics and the Legion could accept.
"I see, so does the Legion also acquire extra things from elsewhere?"
He Gu responded, "Yes, the military supply depot doesn’t always have everything, and many things still need to be sourced by individuals, so purchasing is an easy method."
"For example, the items left behind by a Mind Breaking Entity, which our lab requires, and if we want to buy them from you, it depends on whether you prefer to exchange items or directly choose Contribution Points."
"So, are you looking to trade Contribution Points or buy something?"
"Yes."
Chen Ming responded, explaining in detail, "I have something rather valuable that I’d like to sell in exchange for something I need."
"What do you want to sell?"
"A set of Power Armor purely made from Spiritual Metal of the same nature."
He Gu was taken aback by this and uncertainly asked, "You’re saying you want to sell what?"
"A set of Power Armor, most of the metal on it is Spiritual Metal, and the properties are identical."
On the other end of the line, He Gu didn’t dismiss Chen Ming’s words as lies; instead, he seriously considered the common size of Power Armor and how much metal material would be needed to manufacture such a set of Power Armor.
He then told Chen Ming, "Please hold on for a moment."
He temporarily put down the terminal.
He was probably consulting others.
After all, such a set of Power Armor indeed had a considerable value, and many Psychics may not be able to afford even a handy, or not so handy, Spiritual Weapon.
So, a set of such Power Armor likely could only be acquired by a Spiritual Ability Research Institute with official backing from the Fourteenth Legion.
A few minutes later, He Gu picked up the terminal again and asked Chen Ming, "Are you sure it’s made from materials of the same nature?"
"Yes."
After all, they were all dug out from Yan Xiong, how could they not be of the same nature?
"To be honest, we’re quite interested in your item."
However, He Gu’s interest wasn’t in the Power Armor itself, but in the large chunk of Spiritual Material of the same nature used to manufacture it.
Spiritual Materials were never common and their properties varied immensely.
Even if many materials’ properties appeared similar, there were often slight differences.
But as the overall quantity increased, these differences would become apparent, making them unsuitable for direct application in large equipment for individual use.
So, a large volume of pure, same property Spiritual Materials usable for manufacturing a set of Power Armor was extremely rare.
That Chen Ming managed to acquire such a thing was indeed surprising.
He Gu speculated that it likely came from the relics of another civilization discovered by Chen Ming’s Dusk Fleet or perhaps found in the Dusk Star Realm.
Of course, there was also a chance that Chen Ming discovered a mine and then directly manufactured the Spiritual Ore into Power Armor.
In that case, the Mind Breaking Entity might have been caused by the Psychics who had a small probability of existing within Dusk’s territory.
Having thought of a reasonable explanation, He Gu stopped dwelling on the matter and turned to the question he most needed an answer for: "Has the Spiritual Material already been made into Power Armor?"
"Yes."
Previously, after being reminded by his boss about Yan Xiong’s utility, Chen Ming had asked Extraordinary for assistance in creating a set, planning for his main body to wear it.
However, Chen Ming’s main body was now with Brilliant and the others on the exploration road, being heavily protected and hadn’t encountered any danger yet.
Additionally, his boss had previously advised against wearing multiple different types of Spiritual Equipment simultaneously.
While the effects of Power Armor were indeed excellent, providing far greater amplification on Spiritual Power and Spiritual Energy than Spiritual Stones and Spiritual Weapons.
Nonetheless, wearing Power Armor every day was quite uncomfortable, and Chen Ming would rather gain a lesser boost from Spiritual Equipment, so currently, the Power Armor was not very useful.
Wait a minute.
Chen Ming suddenly slammed the table unconsciously, rolling his previous thought back to the last sentence.
The situation seemed a bit off.
He wasn’t referring to the discomfort of wearing Power Armor but rather the external amplification he received.
