Chapter 775 - 774: Who Set You Up

Ethan Grant moved to the other side of the hospital bed and kissed Serena Sullivan’s lips, "You and Anna can chat slowly, I happen to have some things to discuss with Carter Lockwood."

"Anna."

Carter Lockwood watched Ethan kiss Serena goodbye, his eyes darkening, staring directly at Anna Morgan’s lips.

Mmm!

He wanted to kiss Anna too!

After Ethan and Carter left, Finn Chandler came in, looking very exhausted, not from lack of sleep, but from stress.

"Finn, what’s going on?"

Seeing Finn, Anna Morgan approached her, holding her hand and locking the door behind them.

Finn didn’t answer immediately; she walked over to Serena’s side, glanced at her, and said with a faint smile, "The surgery was successful?"

"Mmm!"

Serena responded, remembering what Morda had said: waking up meant the surgery was mostly completed, and all that was left was the recovery of her legs.

She believed Morda didn’t lie to her this time.

"That’s good."

Finn replied with a smile, finally hearing some good news.

"What’s going on with you?" Serena asked, "The news said you got engaged to some girl."

Finn wasn’t someone who would compromise herself or hurt others for power, let alone fake a marriage with a woman.

"I was set up."

Finn curled her lip, her smile growing more bitter.

"Who set you up?"

Anna asked anxiously, clenching her fist, eager to stand up for Finn.

Serena could see through it immediately; when she saw Mrs. Chambers announcing the engagement to the reporters on the news, she knew, "It’s your mom."

"And your sister, right?"

Serena guessed, and Finn wasn’t surprised.

"Yes!"

"I never thought they’d team up against me."

"Them!" Anna exclaimed, shocked as she looked at Finn. Her family was the happiest, with her mom, dad, and brother all doting on her. She had never been set up by family before!

She couldn’t even imagine a mom scheming against her own daughter!

"They had someone follow me," Finn said with self-mockery. She never thought Mrs. Chambers and Miss Chambers would plot against her.

She thought they were just a bit selfish;

She thought they were afraid of hardship, unwilling to return to their previous lifestyle.

She just never imagined they’d plan her whole life for their future.

"Knowing I was with Julian Ford as a woman, they feared I’d really become Miss Chambers, so they struck first."

The soup last night, she took it as their concern for her and drank it.

Then quickly fell unconscious.

When she woke up, it was already the next day, with a girl sleeping beside her.

Finn sneered as she recounted the happenings at The Chambers Family, omitting the confrontation with Miss Chambers that morning.

"Hmph!"

After hearing the story, Anna exclaimed angrily, "You just shouldn’t go through with the engagement!"

"What are you afraid of! At worst, don’t be Young Master Chambers!"

"I’ll take care of you!"

Anna said boldly, her family was wealthy, she made money acting, she simply had money, and supporting Finn wouldn’t be a problem at all.

Finn and Serena were amused by Anna’s words.

"Anna, I don’t need you to support me!"

"If you really did, Carter Lockwood wouldn’t freeze me out."

Carter kept a tight watch on Anna!

"What does that have to do with him!" Anna lowered her voice, not only had Finn and Serena been talking about Carter in her ear lately, but her mom also mentioned him every day, to the point that she felt embarrassed whenever she saw Carter. When they were alone, she’d even blush.
