Chapter 427 - 420: Temptation
Chapter 427 - 420: Temptation
"What difference does my identity make to you? Whether I’m Andy or one of the Seven Mo Luo, as long as I can bring you sufficient benefits, that’s all that matters, isn’t it?"
The man in the suit and sunglasses took off his shades, revealing a pair of deep-set eyes.
His pupils were strange—a pale white. If you didn’t look closely, you might even think he had no pupils at all, only the whites of his eyes. Being stared at by those eyes gave one a faint sense of bleak desolation, a chilling, hair-raising feeling.
"It seems you know me quite well."
Clad in pajamas and wearing a Bai Jiu mask, Reyn Morgan, the leader of the Baiyi Organization, let out a hearty laugh. He swirled the red wine in his glass and slowly rose from the luxurious sofa.
The smile on his face vanished in an instant, and an incredibly sharp glint flashed in his eyes beneath the mask.
BOOM!!!
A colossal magnetic field erupted from his body, expanding wildly.
Pitch-black, dense, and profound darkness, like threads or tendrils, shot out from his body.
It twisted and coiled, forming what seemed to be a bottomless vortex. Like a monstrous entity, the vortex’s extending dark tendrils entangled everything around them, as if trying to drag all matter into an unfathomable black hole.
Bai Jiu Reyn Morgan’s ability was known to the outside world as "Greed," but within the Morgan Family, it was called "Freedom."
In that instant, "Andy’s" eyes narrowed slightly. He now had a much deeper understanding of how quickly Bai Jiu could turn hostile.
’So he really is the capricious type who yearns for "unlimited freedom,"’ Andy thought. ’Someone who could change his attitude at any moment for his own benefit.’
’If possible, it would be best to eliminate a person like this from the world. Unfortunately, they had no choice but to borrow his power for now.’
"Since you know a thing or two about me, you should also know what happens to those who provoke me."
"You just arrived at my base, and you’ve already killed my sentries. Am I to take this as a provocation on your part?"
"I don’t care if you’re Andy, one of the Seven Mo Luo, or even your highest leader. Provoke me, and you will pay the price."
Bai Jiu’s voice was incredibly sharp, as if he was about to strike his opponent down at any moment.
Andy’s expression remained unchanged. "They were just a few grunts," he said. "If you insist on making an issue of it, I’ll provide you with the necessary compensation during our negotiations."
"Grunts? I’ve always treated my subordinates as brothers. Besides, this is a matter of the Baiyi Organization’s dignity and reputation. Do you really think a simple offer of compensation can settle this?"
Bai Jiu said with a cold laugh.
"Then what do you want?"
Andy’s face was calm, but his body had begun to tense slightly. His heartbeat slowed, preparing to burst forth with power at the critical moment.
He was ready to fight back.
Even though he was one of the Seven Mo Luo, this was the Baiyi Organization’s headquarters. He was alone, and it would be hard to fight against such overwhelming odds.
The next moment, however, the terrifying aura around Bai Jiu suddenly dissipated. All the dark tendrils retracted into his body, and a calm peace returned to the room.
A smile suddenly appeared on Bai Jiu’s sharp face beneath the mask. He slowly sat back down on the sofa, raised his stemmed glass, took a small sip of red wine, and then said, "Simple. You have to pay more."
You have to pay more...
Andy’s expression didn’t change, but his understanding of Bai Jiu deepened.
’Capricious and unpredictable.’
’Just like his ability, the man’s heart is a shroud of mist, a black hole. Besides himself, no one could possibly grasp his true thoughts.’
"Tsk."
Andy shook his head and let out a small laugh. His muscles slowly relaxed as he dropped his ready-to-fight stance.
"Have a seat. The Starry Sky Country, the Celestial Organization... they’ve all come to me many times, but they always send small fries. I’d worry about dirtying my hands even if I killed them on the spot."
"But this time is different. The leader of the Desolation Organization, one of the Seven Mo Luo—the Celestial Organization’s greatest public-facing power—dares to come to the Baiyi Organization’s headquarters alone and risk his life. It seems you’ve brought a ’sincere offer’ that can satisfy me this time."
Bai Jiu said with a smile. He picked up an empty glass from nearby, poured a measure of red wine, and placed it on the other side of the table. "Please, have a seat."
Andy slowly sat down but didn’t touch the red wine before him. It gave off a rich aroma, clearly of extraordinary quality and vintage. A basic rule when out in the field is to never accept food from strangers—especially when the one offering the glass of red wine was Bai Jiu.
Bai Jiu glanced at the untouched glass, unconcerned. "Cooperation is actually very simple," he said. "As long as you agree to the conditions I previously proposed, reaching an agreement won’t be difficult. But if you can’t even meet those basic points, then I’m afraid there’s nothing more to discuss."
"We can agree to all of your conditions. Everything we’ve discussed before was just small business. What I want to talk about now is *real* business."
Andy said, his expression placid.
"Oh? So my previous conditions were just ’small business’?"
"Then what conditions are you offering this time?"
Hearing this, Bai Jiu narrowed his eyes slightly.
"We need you to work with us to ignite a massive war across the entire Black Continent, both in the open and in the shadows."
Andy said coolly.
At Andy’s words, Bai Jiu’s pupils contracted sharply, and his face instantly darkened. "Are you insane, or do you think I am? My entire foundation, my headquarters, is right here on the Black Continent! Stability here is of paramount importance to me—it’s tied directly to my interests. And now you’re asking me to cut off my own source of wealth?!"
"I imagine you’d sneer if I said we could make you the King of the Black Continent."
Andy said, his expression unchanging.
"King. That’s a title only commoners chase after."
Bai Jiu sneered. "For beings like us, hiding in the shadows, possessing immense power, and living a life of freedom is far more worthy of pursuit than shackling one’s mind and body with a crown."
"We are well aware that for a being like you, a higher realm, greater power, and a longer life are what you truly seek. That’s why you demanded we disclose all our life-extending technologies—those of the Celestial Demons, of humans, and even the method to transform into a Celestial Demon without being shackled."
"Life’s greatest selfishness is to live forever. But you are more ambitious than the others. What you want is to live forever with absolute freedom, not to be bound. We understand this very well."
"But have you ever considered this? Even if you reach a new realm and obtain eternal life, to the rest of this universe, you are still just an ant trapped in a deep well called ’Earth,’ able only to gaze palely up at a limited sky."
"And we... we can share with you the method to transcend the human body, and even to escape this planet."
Andy said.
